I am very happy to be returning to Beefstock this year with James Dean & Power Droid. We're playing Friday night April 8th at 8 PM, so come on out if you're upstate near Woodstock. Its at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, NY and there will be many bands playing over the course of the weekend. This is a beautiful lodge in the Catskills and a great opportunity to be computer free, as there's no cell phone service. Cheers!

Well it turned out to be an excellent and busy summer. Welcome back to all my returning percussion pupils. You know who you are! We're gearing up for a busy fall season and have acquired some new instruments over the summer. I'll be with the Orange county band in Newburgh on 9/25 at 2 PM (Algonquin Park). Rehearsals are under way for The Rockland County Concert Band's annual Halloween concert at Rockland Community College. Check back for the details as we get closer to halloween. Well the summer is flying by us as usual. Last weekend I was with the Tappan Zee Bridgemen on Friday in Ossining and Saturday in Pawling, NY. This week we'll be playing in Long Island (Long Beach) on Saturday. Thursday-August 12th I'll be playing auxiliary percussion with the Rockland County Concert Band. It's a free concert at the Pearl River library so come on out and enjoy the band! The show is at 7:30 PM. The address is 80 Franklin Avenue in Pearl River, NY, one block south of Central Avenue.

Hi everybody! Sorry I have not updated this site in a while. It is turning out to be a very busy performance season. I'll be on the Clearwater Sunset Sail with Solar Punch tonight, sailing the hudson river and playing music. Tomorrow it's Port Jervis at 2 PM with The Pro Musicians of Orange County. Sunday I'll be in Wappingers Falls, NY with the Tappan Zee Bridgemen at 1:00 PM and then playing the Hamlets in Rockland with the Rockland County Concert band at 7:30 PM. I hope to see some or all of you over the weekend! Enjoy!!

I will be playing in a massively large marching band on 10/24/09 in Tarrytown, NY with the Tappan Zee Bridgemen for the town Halloween parade. Should be a lot of fun and I think the band is going to be in costume. And speaking of being in costume, the entire Rockland County Concert band will be in costume for our annual Halloween concert. It is this Sunday, 10/25/09, at the Rockland Community College Cultural Arts Theater. Call me if you need tickets and I hope to see you there. If I don't see you there have a great Halloween anyway!

Well I just finished 2 days with the David Glukh Klezmer Ensemble which was a lot of fun. I'm playing in Yonkers, NY tomorrow for the Peruvian Procession (2-6 in Yonkers) and recording at Mad Hands Studios in the next week or so (percussion ensemble material). "Inferno: The new Rock Musical" closed last Monday. I'm working on an intense percussion ensemble piece called "The Song of Queztecoatl". It is written for 5 brake drums and 5 cowbells and is quite challenging. Looking forward to a short break on Cape Cod and gearing up for the busy fall teaching season. RETURNING STUDENTS: Don't forget to get in touch regarding lesson times. Remember that schedules get crazy and fill up quickly in Sept./Oct. I'll be playing in Boonton, NJ on 9/5 and NYC on 9/6 with The Middletown City Band. Have a great Labor Day weekend!

Just a quick update! Things are getting very busy with the approach of the summer season. I am very happy with the drummers in the African Heartbeat parade/performance that is happening on May 28th at The Murray Ave School and June 6 at The French-American School, both in Larchmont, NY. This workshop combines hand drumming with African dance and singing; I must say all the dancers and drummers are doing an amazing job! Way to go! The rehearsals are going great and everyone involved is having fun! Thanks to Klaudia Raab for being the main creative force behind this event. I'll be playing percussion with The Rockland County concert band on May 17th at Rockland Community College(7:30 PM) and May 31st at the Nanuet Public Library(3 PM I think). The Library show is free; contact me if you need tickets for the RCC show. There are plenty left! Thanks for reading and I hope to see you soon! MD
